How to Specify T8 LED Grow Tube Lights for Nursery Racks

A nursery rack specification checklist for choosing T8 LED grow tube lights by verified PPF, efficacy, dimming, IP rating, daisy-chain limit, and evidence.

For nursery racks and propagation shelves, a T8 LED grow tube light should be specified as part of a tray-level lighting system, not as a generic replacement tube. The buyer needs to know the crop stage, shelf geometry, target photoperiod, fixture spacing, control method, and wiring limits before approving a purchase order.

1. Start with the nursery rack, not the tube wattage

Record the shelf length, tray width, crop stage, distance from tube to canopy, number of layers, aisle access, irrigation splash risk, and whether each rack needs independent dimming.
